Epilight produces outstanding results in removing unwanted hair from all parts of the body. The treatment gives a permanent reduction- 7years of operation and the many happy clients prove that this system actually works and the testimomials available prove the facts how superior this is to alternatives such as waxing, shaving or plucking. The key to the process is a unique adjustable pulsed light system that penetrates into the skin and disables the hair follicles. Much of the unwanted hair is removed during the treatment itself, with more falling away over the following week or so. We are registerd with the Healthcare Commission for this treatment.

Epilight is superior to laser treatments by the fact that the light emitted is adjustable over the spectrum, this allows all skin colours and all hair colours (excluding white) to be treated. A course of Epilight will consist of 3 to 10 treatments with the average being 6. Many clients with PCOS have been succesfully treated and as you would expect the Epilight is F.D.A approved. Following treatment, you can return to work immediately and no dressings or special precautions are required, other than normal, sensible care with exposure to open sun.

The process begins with a cool gel being applied to the area. Next, a hand-held treatment head is applied to the skin. The actual treatment takes just a few seconds, with rapid pulses of light that induce energy to travel down the hair shaft and disable the follicle at its base. You may feel a very slight sting when this happens, like a mild pinch. And that's the treatment completed. All that's needed is to wipe off the gel - and you'll see that much of the unwanted hair comes with it.

Depending on the nature and colour of the hair, further treatments may be necessary to achieve complete eradication. In general, Epilight allows large areas to be treated in a quick and efficient manner.

How does normal hair grow?
Hair is made up from a shaft and a root. The hair that you see on your skin is the shaft, you are unable to see the root as it is buried in the skin

Epilight uses an intensely bright, pulsed light. It's harmless to the skin and has none of the potential hazards of laser treatments. The pulses induce a charge of heat energy in the hair shaft that travels almost instantly to the follicle at the base of the hair, disabling its operation.

The follicle rapidly loses its grip on the hair shaft and the hair falls away. Many drop off immediately after treatment, though some may hang on for a few days afterwards. Because of the cycle of operation in hair follicles, those that were "resting" during the treatment will ultimately restart and hair will begin to grow again, requiring further treatment.

Over a programme of treatments, regrowth becomes significantly reduced, allowing longer and longer periods between treatments.
